Project One

The need for this garden was to help define the lawn and infill the existing beds while adding more privacy. With haphazard previous plantings, we had to create a clear color scheme that would help bring all the various plants together.

Beginning with a cleaner lawn shape, we added Swedish Aspen for a fast-growing screen that would look attractive year round with it’s white bark. ‘Hollywood’ Juniper and Otto Luyken Laurel added some much needed evergreen foundation planting while bringing contrasting texture. Yellow-twig dogwood will stand out during the winter and provide a good screen for the summer months. Grasses brought some fast-growing infill and privacy with little strain to the budget. For a bit of cheerful summer color, we added Golden Rod to fill in the grasses and give the garden an informal charm.
